About
How I practice.
I'm Samikshya, a Florida-licensed Registered Dental Hygienist in the Lake Mary and Sanford area. My foundation is three years of clinical practice centered on hygiene and prevention, where the caseload ranged from routine prophylaxis to advanced periodontal disease requiring multi-quadrant scaling and root planing, pediatric sealants, and oral-cancer screenings that triggered timely referral. I trained as a dentist (BDS, Rangpur Dental College) before choosing to build my career in hygiene.
That dental training sharpens how I practice hygiene. I read tissue with trained eyes, flag early pathology for the dentist, and chart in the detail the doctor needs to move quickly. I can also explain a treatment plan to a worried patient in plain English, Nepali, Bengali, or Hindi.
My U.S. foundation includes a 60-hour externship at Advanced Dental Solutions in Pittsburgh, covering chairside flow, intraoral imaging, bitewings, periapicals, and HIPAA-aware records, plus dental-assisting coursework with hands-on radiography. I document in Open Dental and am trained in Dentrix and Eaglesoft. I have completed the coursework, examination, and clinical training for Florida local-anesthesia certification through the University of Florida, which is now pending issuance.

Notes
How I think about hygiene.
A few short notes on prevention, periodontal care, and clinical communication.
-
What periodontal charting can help a Florida patient understand
Pocket depths are not just numbers. My prior dental training taught me to respect periodontal patterns; my Florida research helps me see where clear prevention conversations may be especially valuable.
Read note -
Radiographs are not routine to me
Dental images should answer a clinical question. I value radiographs most when they connect what I see in the mouth with what cannot be seen directly.
Read note -
Ultrasonic and hand scaling belong together
Choosing between ultrasonic and hand instrumentation is not a contest. The instrument should follow the tissue, the calculus pattern, and the patient in the chair.
